We all know at least 5 people who are there to help us when we need someone to talk to.

I am in the process of moving into an independent career .. so while digesting what it takes to run my own thing, and researching and mastering how to do it, I reflected on the importance of having a solid support network of people with different personalities, life experiences and backgrounds.
It really helps running ideas or concepts past people and also always brings you back to perspective, it certainly helped me!

So here is an ode to the five female that know me well, have challenged me either personally or professionally, and are constantly teaching me something new. Disclaimer: there are more who have left a mark, and there are also male figures — hey Samme!

My Mother

Yes, my mother. The most important female figure in my life. Our relationship is as good as it can be when you are apart but she is, by far, my biggest supporter and my worse ‘enemy’. She taught me how to be honest, how to demand justice and how to stand for what I believe. She taught me a bunch of other stuff, but that’s not what’s this post is about.

Spora

I have found her via a big influencer/brand she has actually shaped and launched. She is an international strategist and true master of everything communication and business related, her experience is incredible and I recognise myself in her story. Her work is empowering, totally disruptive and creatively challenging. And thanks to her, I’ve changed and entered a full business mindset.

My Mentor

My amazing mentor is someone I look up to everyday. Previously a former manager, and now a collaborator, and friend. Her professionalism and work ethic pushes me to always be the best version of myself, and her love and knowledge of beauty, products, and passion are just an inspiration for what I do.

Sophia Amoruso

Love her. I just love her. I remember watching Girlboss and thinking ‘yess!!’ love hearing about real stories of females and businesses that kicked off, and especially hearing about what didn’t go so right. She is since then shared her advice with a community of female entrepreneurs (over 600K on Instagram right now) and is now teaching business to women.

My Colleague

My colleague has kept me sane over the past few months, and she is truly one of the best colleagues I have ever had. We can bounce off ideas, and feed each other’s creative minds; she is someone I can truly trust and her feedback has really helped build up my own confidence and strength. And she is such a talented designer and illustrator — can’t wait to see what she is going to create!

May you all have a great support system around you — 1, 5, 10 it doesn’t matter! Let them know that you value their time and that you are lucky to have them.
